Overview

Instructions are the steps or actions necessary for a user to complete a task.

In Limble, there are several basic and advanced instruction types to help you perform work on your assets.

This article will go over advanced instruction types, and how they can be used to complete work in Limble.

Table of Contents

How to Add Instructions

To add instructions to a task, open a task and click on "Add Instruction."

Select the instruction type you want to use. Then, click "Select."

Assign PM

Assign PM will assign and generate a PM for the user.

Choose the PM you want to assign by clicking "Pick PM."

In the new window, select your desired PM template.

To assign an asset to the PM, select one of the following options from the dropdown under "When started, belongs to asset:"

  • Same Asset as PM template being assigned assigns the asset associated with the PM that you chose in the previous step. If no asset is assigned to that PM, it will assign the asset associated with the parent task.

  • Let the User pick allows the user to assign the asset.

  • Pre-select asset allows you to assign an asset. In the new window, choose your asset and click "Select" to confirm your choice.

Start WO

Start WO will create a work order.

You have the following configuration options:

"When started, use WO template" is where you can associate an existing WO template with the Start WO instruction. By default, the user will be allowed to choose a WO template. To change this to a pre-selected WO template, click the blue text.

In the new window, select your desired template.

"When started, assign the WO to:" is where you can assign a user or team to the WO. By default, the user will be allowed to choose the WO assignment.

To change this, click the blue text.

In the new window, you can choose the user or team you'd like to assign the WO, or one of the following choices:

  • The User starting the WO assigns the WO to the user working on the parent task.

  • Let the User pick among their Teams allows the user to assign the WO to anyone on their teams.

  • Let the User pick allows the user to choose any user or team.

Under "Advanced Settings," Force Selection will force the user to go with the assignment you configured in the Start WO instruction.

(Note: If the user has permission to change work assignments, they may be able to change the WO assignment after it is created.)

Finally, "When started, belongs to asset" assigns one of the following asset selections:

  • Same Asset as Parent Task's Asset assigns the asset associated with the parent task.

  • Let the User pick allows the user to assign the asset.

  • Pre-select asset allows you to assign an asset. In the new window, choose your asset and click "Select" to confirm your choice.

Capture Signature

Capture Signature requires the user to verify their work with a signature.

Clicking the pencil icon will autofill the field using the user's signature if they made one in their user profile.

Request Approval

Request Approval requires the user to get approval from another user before completing a task or moving on to another instruction. The approver will have the option to approve or deny the user's approval request.

Click "Pick User" to assign a user or team to the instruction.

In the new window, you can select a user or team, or allow the assigned user to pick the approver.

You have the following configuration options:

"When approved assign Task to" allows you to change the user assigned to a task if the request is approved. Click the blue text to change to make changes.

In the new window, you can choose the user or team you'd like to reassign the task to, or one of the following choices:

  • Don't change assignment will not reassign the task to a different user. This is the default option.

  • Original owner will assign the task back to the original owner of the task when it was first created if the task is currently assigned to a different user.

"When disapproved assign Task to" will reassign the task to the desired user. Click the blue text to change to make changes.

In the new window, you can choose the user or team you'd like to reassign the task to, or the original owner.

Reassign Task

Reassign Task will assign the task to a different user.

"When triggered reassign to" is who the task will be reassigned to. By default, the user will be allowed to pick the new task assignment. To change this, click the blue text.

In the new window, you can choose the user or team you'd like to reassign the task to.

Under "Advanced Settings," Force Selection will force the user to go with the assignment you pre-selected.

(Note: If the user has permission to change work assignments, they may be able to change the assignment after the task generates.)

Verify Location

Verify Location will verify the user's location. You must have maps enabled on your Limble account and set map locations for your assets and tasks to use the verify location instruction.

Under "What do you want to verify the technician's location against?" you have the following options:

  • The asset assigned to this task will compare the user's location to the location of the asset assigned to this task.

  • This task will compare the user's location against the location of the task

  • Pre-select asset will compare the user's location to the asset of your choice.
