Printing QR code labels is one of the most utilized features in Limble. From managing work requests and parts inventory, to starting PMs or looking up asset or part information, the use of QR codes makes maintenance tasks easier for you and your team to accomplish.

In most instances, you do not need any specialized equipment, printers or supplies -- other than durable-grade labels, like these from Avery -- to print QR code labels. However, we know some customers have circumstances that require alternative printing methods.

This article will help you figure out which printing option is best for your needs.

Creating labels within Limble is the most common way to print QR codes, and what we recommend in most instances.

With the exception of durable-grade labels, you do not need to purchase additional supplies for this method, and whatever standard printer you have should work to print your labels.

Another way to print QR code labels is using Avery's label software.

While we do recommend printing your labels right from Limble in most instances, Avery's label software gives more flexibility for branding and design-related customizations, such as adding images or logos, custom fonts and colors, etc.

Using Avery's software is completely free! This method does not require anything other than an Avery account (also free), durable-grade labels, and a standard printer. You can even have your labels printed and delivered directly from Avery if you don't want to print them yourself.

Metal labels are ideal for highly corrosive or harsh environments where durable-grade labels will not withstand the conditions. Metal labels are covered with Teflon fluorocarbon film that will preserve labels against chemicals, solvents, cold, heat, and UV.

Limble has a partnership with Camcode, a company that specializes in creating metal labels and asset tags for harsher environments.

Before making your labels, Camcode will need an Excel spreadsheet with your QR code information and the layout of your labels. You can inquire with Camcode for more information or to receive a quote.

Limble QR codes aren't restricted to labels. Once you export your QR codes from Limble, you can print them on any material, anywhere you'd like!

In the image below, a Limble customer has posted QR codes on their car wash equipment. This keeps the maintenance team informed and has greatly improved their planning efficiency. They also have seen higher online reviews because their customers submit a maintenance ticket rather than leaving a negative review.

To print a QR code onto a poster or other non-label material, you will need to download the QR image itself or download the QR code in an Excel spreadsheet.

We still recommend using a durable-grade material or laminated paper for a long-lasting effect.

In most instances, we recommend printing your QR codes on durable-grade labels for a number of reasons: not only do durable-grade labels withstand extreme temperatures, but even in mild conditions, they offer lasting power and longevity so you don't have to constantly print and replace your labels.

However, we understand the standard method doesn't work for every situation. If your QR code labels will live in locations with more mild conditions (or maybe you have only a few labels to print!) you can print labels on standard printer paper. If you choose this method, we recommend affixing the label with packing or durable tape on top to create a laminated effect, helping your labels avoid damage from water, oil, or other liquids.
